Choose one of the stepping stones above and follow these Energy Exercise steps.
Step 1 Sit quietly with a stone in your hand.
Step 2 Choose one of the stepping stones from the medicine wheel you have chosen.
Step 3 Write that stepping stone’s name on a small piece of paper.
Step 4 Place the paper anywhere on your body.
Step 5 Listen to the Silence within.
Step 6 Bring your awareness back to your surroundings and open your eyes
- Faith (Discernment between truth and
falsehood). The first step is Faith. Its color, red, symbolizes
the soil, the good red earth, and the blood flowing in our
bodies. We know that the earth supports us. We
know that the blood sustains life. Faith is our recognition
that these truths will continue.
Faith joins together inner feelings of truth and hope. The recognition of truth within us gives us confidence. Hope expresses our desires. When hope combines with truth, the result is confident expectation, faith.
Faith is balanced with reason. Our intellect discerns where “blind faith” (hope not supported by truth) hinders our personal growth.
The first stepping stone is the preparation for the Pathway of Peace. With Faith, we confidently begin our Walk in Balance.
- Love (Discernment between subjective and objective interaction).
The second stepping stone is yellow. It represents
the sun and symbolizes Love. Growth begins by planting
a seed in a good foundation and the warmth of the sun stimulated
its germination. As we seek growth in ourselves, we
plant our seed in faith, our foundation, then warm
it with the light of Love.
The love symbolized by the second stepping stone is a direct outgrowth of Faith. It is based on the inner truth of sincerity. We recognize sincerity by looking within honestly and unconditionally loving all that we see.
When we love ourselves in this way, we can feel the answering love of the universe. Our path of truth is in harmony with the path of the universe.
- Intuition (Discernment between instinct
and intuition). Intuition is the third stepping stone. Its color is
blue representing water, the nursery of creation. The
seed, warmed by Love in the foundation of Faith, is prepared
by the rain for its emergence from the earth.
The rain penetrates the earth to moisten the seed. In the same way, we penetrate to our seed within to intuitively cleanse ourselves of any limiting thoughts or emotions. The flow of water shows us the importance of allowing the movement in our ideas and feelings which create growth (the inner-knowing of truth).
As the nursery of creation, water sustains us while we are developing. It provides insights which illuminate our path. - Will (Intent). Will is the fourth stepping stone on the Pathway of Peace. It
is represented by the color green and symbolizes the dependability
of nature. Our seed is sending forth shoots, stems,
leaves, and branches. It can be seen above the earth,
our foundation, and is beginning to make its contribution
to the world around it.
Our will is the visible extension of the previous stones. It is the force behind our conscious actions. The inner truth upon which we have laid our foundation of Faith, warmed by Love and cleansed through Intuition, is now ready to be expressed in our actions. - Creativity (Bringing order out of chaos). The fifth stepping stone is Creativity. Its color is pink
and it symbolizes the five-fingered hand, the instrument
of service. It is the flower: the blossoming of our seed.
Creativity is the way we use our gifts and abilities. Through our inner knowing, we have identified the contributions which we are uniquely able to make. Our Will provides the energy to act. Creativity is the action.
The path of our lives becomes smoother as we begin each act in Faith and allow it to develop through Love, Intuition, and Will until we create it. The Pathway of Peace is an expression of our inner knowing in all forms of action. - Magnetism (Flow of energy). Magnetism, the sixth stepping stone, is colored white. It
is represented by a six-sided crystal. It symbolizes the
attracting and releasing of energy through our actions. The
flower attracts the insects which then release the pollen
from the flower throughout the environment.
The polarity of this planet is echoed even into our smallest actions. Everything we do either attracts or releases. The six-sided crystal reminds us to watch the flow with clarity; to recognize when our actions are attracting and when they are releasing. When we are aware, we can maintain a balanced flow. - Healing (Awareness of lesson). Healing is the seventh stepping stone. Its color is purple.
It is a uniting of all the previous gifts like a blending
of the rainbow colors.
All our actions speak of the truth we recognize within. They are the fruit of the seeds we plant. The apple tree fulfills its purpose by producing apples and eating its fruit is healing. Our seed also produces a fruit which is the fulfillment of our purpose. When the seed has been planted in Faith, that fruit is happiness and the energy our actions attract and release is also healing. - Kinship (Learning from all relations). The color of the eighth stepping stone is orange, the blending
of red, faith, and yellow, love. Faith through our inner-knowing
is the foundation of all our individual endeavors. When Faith
is combined with Love on the eighth stone, we become aware
of the inner-knowing which guides all creation. We step into
the flow which directs all of nature.
Through Kinship our awareness is enhanced to recognize that the universe is a whole, unified creation. Everything is of the same spirit substance. This unity establishes Kinship.
We receive guidance from all dimensions when we are within the flow of unity. Our teachers take many forms. The acknowledgement of Kinship is the acceptance of all teachers. - Knowledge (Result of experience). The color of the tenth stone is gray. It is the color of
granite, the foundation of the earth. Storehouses of earth
knowledge, rocks are the keepers of the secrets of the ages.
Knowledge is the awareness of truth and the willingness to use it. Walking our earth path, we receive impressions about our environment from our physical senses. As we compare these outer experiences with our inner-knowing, we make judgments about the world around us and our relationship to it. We are solely responsible for these decisions.
Our judgments then direct our actions. The decisions we have made are readily visible and the results indicate our choices.
Knowledge is gained as we watch how our judgments, reflected in our actions, harmonize with the world around us. - Self-Determination (Recognition of self in relation
to environment). The color associated with Self-determination is brown. It
symbolizes the uniting of our knowledge with the universal
knowledge. It is the trunk of the tree which connects the
roots and branches to sustain the tree's growth.
Knowledge through the Will to live and Self-determination form the horizontal line on the Pathway of Peace medicine wheel. The horizontal line represents the physical events of our lives. Knowledge and the Will to live and Self-determination are connected through the development of the events on this path. Living is growing.
The gift of Will directs our actions. On the tenth stone we combine our individual willingness with the universal force of the Great Mystery to achieve our life purpose. - Prophesy (In light of the past, in the
present creating the future). Combining pink and white, the color of the stone of Prophesy
is rose. It symbolizes the unity of creativity and magnetism
in the moment of recognizing a lesson.
Prophesy blends together the past, present, and future when we realize we control our future. This moment occurs when we recognize each new learning opportunity. We view it in light of our past experiences and take appropriate action to create the future we choose. Past, present, and future unite and we see our future fulfilling our life purpose within the peace of the Great Mystery. - Harmony (Seeking the light). The color of Harmony is black. It symbolizes seeking the
light of Truth. The end of each medicine wheel opens the
journey on the next. The wisdom gained is preparation for
the next learning experience.
Harmony is completion. It is the wholeness we personally realize when we have learned a lesson. It provides a rest, a peace where lessons learned are absorbed before new lessons are approached. In Harmony, we are at one with the Great Mystery.
- Clarity (Vibral Core). Clarity is the Vibral Core (or Hub) of the Pathway of Peace. It is the essence of this medicine wheel. As we work with the pathway of Peace we seek clarity in the concepts that guide our lives. Bringing ourselves into harmony with Clarity joins these concepts into a personal life philosophy.
